2-Phenyl-4-arylmethylidene-5-oxazolinones were synthesized in very high yield by subjecting a mixture of an aryl aldehyde/heterocyclic aldehyde/cinnamaldehyde and hippuric acid in anhydrous acetic anhydride and catalytic Zn(OCOCH3)2·2H2O to ultrasonication at 35 KHz for 4 to 8 min.
