Thermo-rechargeable Batteries Fabricated Using Low-cost Materialsby
Abstract
We fabricated three thermo-rechargeable batteries using low-cost transition metal hexacyanoferrate and determined the thermal voltage (Vcell) and discharge capacity (Qcell) per unit weight of the total active material in the cathode and anode. The obtained values were compared with the calculated values, which were determined by analyzing the temperature and capacity coefficients of the redox potential. 1525 9330 |
The Conundrum of High Body Mass Index in Kidney Transplant PatientsAbstract
Obesity is on the rise and the number of end stage renal disease patients who are obese parallel this trend. There is no universally accepted guideline for wait-listing end stage renal disease obese patients in order to reduce surgical complications and improve survival of the kidney graft. Criteria for acceptance are variable among transplant centres, as do post-transplant policies. Careful risk assessment to maximise the benefits of the limited organ donor resource must be undertaken prior to waitlist an obese ki [...] 1416 9317 |
Hot Water Preparation along with Combined Solar Thermochemical Energy Storage System: Experimental Validation and Performance SimulationAbstract
Hybrid solar thermal systems are considered to be a promising solution for delivering clean thermal energy for the building sector, especially while combining them with other renewable energy sources. Usually, solar energy production does not match the thermal energy demand, and hence the energy storage must be integrated. Thermochemical energy storage is adapted particularly to be used along with solar thermal applications. In this article, the design of the combined solar thermochemical energy storage system is p [...] 1633 9310 |
TEA of a Unique Two-Pathways Process for Post-Combustion CO2 CaptureAbstract
A unique two-Pathways process using aqueous sodium glycinate for CO2 capture from a split flue gas stream emitted from 600 MWe post-combustion coal power plant was developed in Aspen Plus v.10. The split gas flow rate used was 44.75 ton/h and contained 0.0023 mol% SO2 and 13.33 mol% CO2. The process includes a washing unit, a CO2 absorption unit, a reverse osmosis unit, and a solvent regeneration unit or an ultrafiltration unit. The washing unit uses deionized water to completely remove SO2 and the CO2 absorption u [...] 1765 9307 |
The Usefulness of Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Chromosome Aneuploidy Informed by A Randomised Controlled Trialby
Abstract
United Kingdom guidelines recommend single embryo transfer (fresh or cryopreserved) in the first full assisted conception cycle for women under 40 years most at risk of having twins. Based on a recent randomized clinical trial for women aged 36 to 40 years, the hypothetical effect of preimplantation genetic testing for chromosome aneuploidy was extrapolated to single transfer of every morphologically transferable embryo available from a full cycle. Offering testing to every woman seems likely to result in fewer cli [...] 1718 9304 |
Implementation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in a Child with Obsessive - Compulsive Disorder: A Case StudyAbstract
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a prevalent child and adolescent psychiatric condition characterized by substantial functional impairments. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has emerged as the primary therapeutic approach for managing mild to moderate cases of OCD in children and adolescents. Significant advancements have been made in applying CBT specifically to this age group in the past decade. Exposure and response prevention (ERP) is a core therapeutic technique grounded in the principle that anxiety t [...] 1207 9304 |
MiRNAs as Promising Therapeutic Targets for Breast Cancerby
Abstract
Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cause of cancer-related death and is the malignancy most frequently diagnosed in females worldwide. BC incidence is predicted to continue increasing worldwide. Without interventions, annual new cases will reach over 3 million by 2030. Genetic abnormalities account for almost 70% of all BC cases worldwide. Biological pathways implicated include non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs). MiRNAs are small non-coding RNA molecules that play a role in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expressi [...] 1355 9303 |
Sustainable Alternatives for Energy Generation and Food Production in Brazilby
Abstract
Urbanization driven by industrialization and population growth amplifies food consumption and reinforces the need for more fuels and energy. However, the expansion of biofuels can impose risks on long-term food security. This paper examines potential alternative crops for energy generation and food production, including those used by family farmers and their associations, to decentralize energy production and utilization as a crucial pillar of the global energy transition. Cassava, corn, and sugar beet are the chos [...] 1591 9297 |
Iron Doped Titania/Polyaniline Composite: An Efficient Electrocatalyst for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction in Acidic MediumAbstract
The development of noble metal-free catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is the primary challenge in fuel production to replace fossil fuels. Here, we have synthesized Fe-doped TiO2/PANI nanocomposite via facile in situ polymerization method and studied its electrocatalytic activity towards HER. The composite catalyzes HER efficiently with an overpotential value of -180 mV vs. RHE in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution to achieve the current density of 10 mA cm-2 and also possesses unique stability of 8 h. However, a un [...] 1582 9295 |
Establishment of an In Vitro Propagation, Transformation, and Gene Editing System in Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)Abstract
Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), a family of Solanaceae, is an annual crop grown in fields and greenhouses. Tomato is the fourth-largest agricultural crop in the world, with a market value of more than $50 billion. Numerous attempts were conducted on the tomato for further improvement via in vitro regeneration and transformation. This study aims to establish in vitro multiplication, transformation, and gene editing systems in tomatoes by using cotyledon explants. Cotyledon explants were placed on the MS medium suppor [...] 1485 9291 |
