Recent Progress in Nutrition (ISSN 2771-9871) is an international peer-reviewed Open Access journal published quarterly online by LIDSEN Publishing Inc. This periodical is devoted to publishing high-quality papers that describe the most significant and cutting-edge research in all areas of nutritional sciences. Its aim is to provide timely, authoritative introductions to current thinking, developments and research in carefully selected topics. Also, it aims to enhance the international exchange of scientific activities in nutritional science and human health.
Recent Progress in Nutrition publishes high quality intervention and observational studies in nutrition. High quality systematic reviews and meta-analyses are also welcome as are pilot studies with preliminary data and hypotheses generating studies. Emphasis is placed on understanding the relationship between nutrition and health and of the role of dietary patterns in health and disease.

About This Topic
The integration of precision health and advanced food science is rapidly reshaping the development of functional foods and bioactive delivery systems. Modern advancements heavily prioritize microbiome-directed formulations, employing stimuli-sensitive technologies to coordinate the precise release of active ingredients with distinct biochemical signals within the gastrointestinal tract.
Concurrently, the industry is seeing a surge in the integration of plant-based bioactives, extracted and stabilized using advanced, green methodologies such as ultrasound-assisted extraction. This shift aligns with a growing emphasis on sustainable sourcing, minimizing agricultural waste, and utilizing eco-friendly, upcycled materials for encapsulation.
To overcome the inherent challenges of bioactive degradation and poor bioavailability, cutting-edge nano-delivery systems, such as liposomes, nanogels, and nanostructured lipid carriers, are being engineered to protect and purposefully release these sensitive compounds into the body.
However, the commercialization of next-generation functional foods faces regulatory hurdles, demanding unified global standards for safety and efficacy. Looking ahead, the industry is pivoting toward hyper-personalization. By combining AI, digital health data, and consumer profiling, nutritional strategies can be customized to individual microbiomes and physiological needs, offering a highly precise approach to preventative care.

The authors own the copyright to the article, and the article can be free to access, distribute, and reuse provided that the original work is correctly cited.
