Evaluation of the Transitional Pain Service Specialized Iyengar-Informed Yoga Program for Chronic Post-Surgical Pain: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

Received: 29 April 2025;  Published: 30 September 2025;  doi: 10.21926/obm.icm.2503041

Abstract

The objective of this randomized controlled trial (RCT) was to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of a specialized Iyengar-informed yoga intervention for individuals who experience chronic post-surgical pain (CPSP). This prospective, multi-wave pilot RCT was pre-registered at clinicaltrials.gov (NCT03460028) and designed in accordance with the 2010 CONSORT statement. Participants (N = 21) with CPSP were out-patients or community members affiliated with a Toronto hospital. Participants were randomized to an 8-wee [...]

A Narrative Review on the Relationship Between Autistic Traits and Anxiety

Received: 31 May 2025;  Published: 27 October 2025;  doi: 10.21926/obm.neurobiol.2504307

Abstract

Although anxiety and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are common co-morbidities, the relationship between autistic traits and anxiety disorders/symptoms has been increasingly researched in recent years. This review aims to compile the studies conducted on this topic and enhance our understanding of it. All publications up to September 1, 2024, on PubMed that contained the terms ‘anxiety’, ‘autistic traits’, ‘autism feature’, ‘autism-like symptoms’, and ‘ASD-like symptoms’, in their titles or abstracts were reviewed. Investigating Associations between Maternal Mindfulness, Mental Health, Interoception and Mother-Infant Relationship during Pregnancy and Post-Partum in a Non-Clinical Community Sample

Received: 21 May 2025;  Published: 26 October 2025;  doi: 10.21926/obm.icm.2504046

Abstract

Pregnancy and the postpartum period are times of significant transition for women, with changes in maternal physical and mental health. The relationship between a mother and her infant has been recognised as laying the foundation for later child development. There is considerable evidence that this early relationship is influenced by a woman’s wellbeing during pregnancy and in the early post-partum period. Mindfulness has been found to have positive health outcomes, primarily in reducing maternal stress, anxiety, a [...]

Network Topology Similarities Across Cancer Types: Identifying Central Protein Hubs for Drug Discovery

Received: 18 June 2025;  Published: 13 October 2025;  doi: 10.21926/obm.genet.2504312

Abstract

A molecular-level understanding of cancer is essential for the development of effective therapies. Constructing protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks offers a valuable approach to identifying dysregulated driver genes and potential therapeutic targets. In this study, we modeled cancer PPI networks as metric spaces and applied mathematical and computational algorithms to analyze their structural and functional properties. Our findings reveal that these networks share a conserved architecture across different ca [...]

Technology Support to Enable People with Severe Intellectual Disability and Blindness to Carry Out Occupational Activities and Transition Between Them Independently

Received: 14 July 2025;  Published: 09 October 2025;  doi: 10.21926/obm.neurobiol.2504303

Abstract

People with severe intellectual disability and blindness tend to perform only simple occupational activities and are mostly unable to transition between those activities. This inability makes their level of occupation independent of staff support fairly limited. Technology-aided programs may be one of the few opportunities available to increase their independent occupation. This study assessed one such program designed to (a) monitor the participants’ responses and guide them to transition to a new activity once th [...]

The Effect of Adding Mealworm, Probiotics, and Mealworm Plus Probiotics on IL-8 Gene Expression in Liver and Spleen Tissues of Broiler Chickens

Received: 30 July 2025;  Published: 30 October 2025;  doi: 10.21926/obm.genet.2504315

Abstract

Interleukin-8 (IL-8), a pro-inflammatory cytokine, plays a critical role in immune modulation in poultry and has potential applications in veterinary and human medicine. This study investigated the effects of dietary supplementation with mealworm (Tenebrio molitor), probiotics, or their combination on IL-8 gene expression in the livers and spleens of broiler chickens. A total of 160 one-day-old broiler chickens (Ross 308 strain) were assigned to four treatments (basal diet, basal diet + 0.2 g/kg probiotic, basal di [...]
