About This Topic

Diets and lifestyle play a crucial role in the optimal physiologic function of body systems, including the immune system. Unfortunately, the need for organ transplants is increasing globally. Therefore, the patients and healthcare professionals must implement effective strategies for maintaining the new gift of life and preventing the unfortunate event of rejection, as well as increasing the safety and efficacy of anti-rejection drugs. Similarly, the health and optimal physiologic function of the organ prior to transplantation are important. In this regard, appropriate changes in dietary habits and lifestyle are critical. In this special issue, clinicians and scientists are invited to share their experiences on the roles of diets in achieving the best outcomes of organ transplantation. Both clinical and experimental studies are welcome
