Revisiting the Experience of Art Therapists and Drama Therapists Working in Schools Two Years after the First Lockdown: A Qualitative Pilot

Received: 25 May 2023;  Published: 11 July 2023;  doi: 10.21926/obm.icm.2303027

Abstract

This paper follows a preliminary study that examined how 6 (n = 6) creative arts therapists (3 art therapists and 3 drama therapists) coped with the transition to remote therapy in schools during the first lockdown in Israel due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The preliminary research explored the therapists’ experiences and views about working online upon returning to regular in-person meetings. The current paper adds a follow-up interview examining their perspective on this period, two years later. The 1st set of in [...]

Permeability, Compressibility and Pressure Prediction in Supercharged Wireline and FTWD Environments

Received: 12 April 2023;  Published: 10 July 2023;  doi: 10.21926/jept.2303023

Abstract

In conventional wireline and LWD/MWD formation testing, downhole predictions for rock and fluid properties are based on simplified Darcy flow models, but only for mathematical expediency. These require initially constant pressures that are uniform throughout the reservoir. This limitation precludes common applications in overbalanced drilling, so that supercharge or near-well invasion effects - associated with rapidly decreasing pressures at the sandface where pressures are measured - are completely ignored. Such 1 [...]

Identification of Potential Predictive and Diagnostic Urinary Biomarkers for Acute Rejection in Renal Transplant Recipients: A Proteomics Study

Received: 25 May 2023;  Published: 07 July 2023;  doi: 10.21926/obm.transplant.2303191

Abstract

Acute rejection (AR) is one of the main predictors of long-term survival of allograft. The development of noninvasive diagnostic biomarkers of AR is an unmet need for the timely detection. This study aimed to identify novel detective biomarkers of AR by analyzing the urine proteome profile of transplant patients. Forty-two transplant patients including 30 biopsy-proven AR patients (including antibody and T-cell mediated rejection) and 12 transplant patients with stable renal function (control group) were enrolled. [...]

Sunflower Seeds (Helianthus Annuus) and Health Benefits: A Review

Received: 29 October 2022;  Published: 06 July 2023;  doi: 10.21926/rpn.2303010

Abstract

A literature review was conducted to present an overview of sunflower seeds, nutritional value, and health benefits. Sunflower seeds are inexpensive, readily available, and nutritious all year long. Some of the most important nutrients for humans are found in them in particularly high concentrations. There are several vitamins in sunflower seeds, including vitamin B1 and B5, vitamin E and folate. Additionally, they contain important minerals like copper, magnesium, selenium, and phosphorous. The fats in sunflower s [...]

Geochemical Assessment of the Modern Sediments of a Lake in the North of Russia

Received: 09 March 2023;  Published: 05 July 2023;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2303038

Abstract

Core sediment (sapropel) samples were collected from Lake Okunozero, the Republic of Karelia, Russia, to assess the distribution of heavy metals and their main fractions, probable sources of pollution, and potential ecological and toxicological risks for the water body. Heavy metal concentrations were measured by the mass spectrometry method using an XSeries-2 ICP-MS. The sequential extraction of heavy metals from sapropel samples was performed using the scheme of Tessier. According to the Russian Interstate Standa [...]

Unmasked Connections: Piloting Virtual Interactive Artist Performances in Healthcare — A Feasibility Study

Received: 17 March 2023;  Published: 05 July 2023;  doi: 10.21926/obm.icm.2303026

Abstract

The arts offer many health benefits and can be especially impactful in hospital or continuing care facilities through group art interventions or personalized art activities. Arts can also be socially prescribed to fulfill social needs, improve emotional well-being, and have a positive impact of the social determinants of heath. This feasibility study explores the value of a pilot program that brought personalized virtual 1-on-1 art performances to residents in long-term care (LTC) during the Covid-19 pandemic which [...]

Recent Development of Photocatalytic Application Towards Wastewater Treatment

Received: 15 April 2023;  Published: 05 July 2023;  doi: 10.21926/cr.2303020

Abstract

With increasing population levels and rapidly growing industries worldwide, the purification of water contaminated with different impurities is one of the biggest challenges we face in recent times. Photocatalysis holds great potential as an efficient mineralization process to remove the foreign matter present in wastewater. Rapid advancement in innovative materials development has made photocatalysis the frontrunner among different water treatment methods. Our main priority lies in different strategic approaches t [...]

An Evidence of Drug Repurposing for COVID-19 Pandemic Based on In silico Investigation from Phenolic Derivatives of Silybum Marianum Against SARS-Cov-2 Proteins

Received: 11 January 2023;  Published: 04 July 2023;  doi: 10.21926/obm.genet.2303186

Abstract

The outbreak of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) had a striking impact on the worldwide healthcare system within a very short period. The availability of a large number of clinical data on SARS-CoV-2, conventional precautionary majors, and treatment strategies with the existing therapeutic antiviral drug molecules also fails to control progression and disease transmission among the population. Hence, we implemented pharmacoinformatics approaches to facilitate the drug discovery by repurposing naturally available [...]

Study and Characterization of a Spherical Solar Collector. I. Efficiency and Thermal Losses Coefficient

Received: 21 April 2023;  Published: 04 July 2023;  doi: 10.21926/jept.2303022

Abstract

This paper studies and characterizes a solar collector with spherical geometry to produce hot water for sanitary and domestic applications and other facilities. The new geometry enlarges the solar collector surface and allows full sun tracking during the day without needing a solar tracking system. Although this geometry has been in use for some time, its market penetration is low due to the lack of perfect knowledge of solar collector behavior and the benefits compared with conventional solar collectors. The studi [...]

Predicting Suicide Risk among South African University Students: Optimal Cutoff Score for the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale

Received: 28 April 2023;  Published: 03 July 2023;  doi: 10.21926/obm.neurobiol.2303173

Abstract

University students have been identified as a particularly vulnerable group for adverse mental health outcomes owing to the distinctive implications of the COVID-19 prevention measures on the educational sector. Even prior to the pandemic, university students were identified as being at increased risk for adverse mental health outcomes and suicidality. Although various factors can enhance the risk of suicide, one of the strongest predictors of suicidality is the presence of depressive symptomology. The current stud [...]
