Unraveling the Role of Non-Coding Genetic Variants in Male Infertility: Insights from the Chinese Population

Received: 03 December 2025;  Published: 09 March 2026;  doi: 10.21926/obm.genet.2601327

Abstract

Male infertility is a growing concern worldwide, with almost half of infertility cases being male, and the trend is rising in China as a result of multifaceted genetics-environment interaction. Important breakthroughs have been made in identifying mutations in annotated protein-coding genes associated with male infertility. However, a significant part of the human genome, namely non-coding DNA, has not yet been explored. Recent breakthroughs in the realm of high-throughput genomic technologies have unveiled the ind [...]

Embodied Rituals and Healing Practices in Turkish Health Culture: Implications for Contemporary Healthcare Environments

Received: 14 October 2025;  Published: 02 March 2026;  doi: 10.21926/obm.icm.2601010

Abstract

Throughout human history, movement has functioned not only as a physical activity but also as a ritual, considered a healing practice linked to meaning-making and social balance. Bodily performances and ritual-based practices—such as folk dances and mystical rituals—have historically supported the physical and emotional integrity of individuals. This paper examines the historical continuity of movement-based performative practices in Turkish health culture through religious and mystical rituals, folk dances, and mu [...]

Restoring the Resilience of Water-Energy-Food Nexus Based on Desalination through Biomass Management: Case Study West Mani, Greece

Received: 03 November 2025;  Published: 01 March 2026;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2601005

Abstract

Mediterranean regions like West Mani, Greece, face escalating water scarcity exacerbated by climate variability and seasonal tourism peaks, straining the water-energy-food (WEF) nexus. Olive cultivation, central to the region’s economy and culture, generates substantial underutilized biomass residues that increase wildfire risk if left unmanaged. At the same time, water supply increasingly relies on energy-intensive desalination and pumping. This study addresses the gap in integrated, place-based WEF nexus applicat [...]

Migraine Surgery: Assessment of the Prevalence and Surgical Outcomes of Different Trigger Sites

Received: 14 November 2025;  Published: 28 February 2026;  doi: 10.21926/obm.neurobiol.2601327

Abstract

Migraine surgery is primarily indicated for patients with chronic migraine who are refractory to conventional pharmacological treatments. The procedure aims to deactivate peripheral trigger sites—anatomical zones where migraines can be triggered by nerve compression and irritation. The most common trigger areas are the frontal, occipital, and temporal. This review seeks to analyse the prevalence of treatment and corresponding success rates for these three main trigger sites. A systematic review was conducted on Pub [...]

Quasi-Solid-State Electrolytes of Polyethylene Oxide-Based Composite Electrolyte with Liquid Electrolytes

Received: 18 November 2025;  Published: 26 February 2026;  doi: 10.21926/jept.2601004

Abstract

A thin film of PEO18Li(CF3SO2)2N(LiTFSI)-tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (G4)-Li1.4Al0.4Ge0.2Ti1.4(PO4)3-LiCl·H2O (LAGTP·LiCl) was prepared by addition of 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME). The grain boundary resistance of PEO18LiTFSI-LAGTP·LiCl was considerably reduced by the addition of G4, and a large-sized thin film of the composite polymer electrolyte was prepared easily by the addition of 10 wt.% DME. The electrical conductivity of [(PEO18LiTFSI-2G4)-5 wt.% LAGTP·LiCl]-10 wt.% DME was 1.2 × 10-4 S cm-1 at 25°C, a [...]

Aversion But Not Aggression: Emotional Traits of KM Rats in Sociability Tests

Received: 28 September 2025;  Published: 25 February 2026;  doi: 10.21926/obm.neurobiol.2601326

Abstract

The inbred Krushinsky-Molodkina (KM) rat strain, characterized by latent genetic epilepsy, reduced social motivation, and a high propensity for freezing, is a promising model for translational research of social deficits in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In clinical practice, social deficits often lead to social withdrawal and can be accompanied by aggression. It was unknown if KM rats exhibit such aggression during inescapable social encounters. We assessed intraspecific aggression in KM and control rats using th [...]

Examining the Pre-Hospital Workflow of Stroke Patients Referred with Code SAMA (724) and their Outcome in the Emergency Department of Imam Reza Hospital (AS)

Received: 22 February 2025;  Published: 25 February 2026;  doi: 10.21926/obm.neurobiol.2601325

Abstract

The "Sama Code" is a protocol implemented in Iranian pre-hospital emergency services to manage time and treat patients with suspected stroke symptoms based on the FAST criteria. This study aims to analyze the workflow of patients with stroke symptoms transferred under the Sama Code. All patients with neurological symptoms who were brought to Imam Reza Hospital by pre-hospital emergency services after activating the Sama Code during the years 2021 and 2022 were included in the study. Data were collected from pre-hos [...]

Novel Therapies for the Treatment of Antibody Mediated Rejection in Solid Organ Transplantation: A Systematic Review

Received: 29 October 2025;  Published: 24 February 2026;  doi: 10.21926/obm.transplant.2601267

Abstract

Antibody mediated rejection (AMR) is a considerable cause of late allograft failure in solid organ transplantation. Conventional approaches, using plasmapheresis, intravenous immunoglobulin, rituximab, bortezomib, and eculizumab have been unsuccessful in improving graft survival. This review aims to assess emerging therapies for AMR treatment across all organs. Using a PubMed search, literature published up to July 20, 2025 regarding tocilizumab, clazakizumab, carfilzomib, daratumumab, imlifidase, felzartamab, and [...]

Hydroclimatic Variability and Precipitation Extremes in Sindh under a Changing Climate

Received: 12 August 2025;  Published: 24 February 2026;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2601004

Abstract

Sindh Province, Pakistan, is highly vulnerable to hydroclimatic extremes, necessitating a detailed understanding of its precipitation patterns for effective water management. This study assesses spatiotemporal precipitation dynamics across Sindh from 2001 to 2024 by integrating satellite-based CHIRPS data, in situ observations from the Climate Knowledge Portal (CKP), and CMIP6 climate model projections. Validation results show strong agreement between CHIRPS and ground data (R ≈ 0.87, d ≈ 0.93), confirming the sate [...]

Red Meat Consumption and Rheumatic Diseases: A Comprehensive Narrative Review

Received: 03 November 2025;  Published: 23 February 2026;  doi: 10.21926/rpn.2601003

Abstract

Dietary factors influence chronic inflammation and immune regulation, potentially affecting the onset and activity of rheumatic disease. Red meat, a major source of protein, heme iron, and saturated fat, has been linked to metabolic and inflammatory disorders, yet its role in rheumatic diseases remains unclear. To comprehensively evaluate the relationship between red-meat consumption and major rheumatic diseases—including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), gout, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and other inflammatory or [...]
