Stability of a Fe-Rich Cathode Catalyst in an Anion Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell

Received: 09 June 2021;  Published: 16 September 2021;  doi: 10.21926/cr.2103003

Abstract

Fe-rich alloys have been widely studied as catalyst materials for the cathodic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in hydrogen fuel cells, and many have shown high activities. The stability of Fe-rich catalysts has also been researched, and some studies have shown promising results using an accelerated stress test (AST), which uses a potential cycling method. However, for commercial fuel cell applications, such as standby power systems, the catalyst has to tolerate a high potential for a long period, which can not be r [...]

Photocatalytic Degradation of Azo Dyes Using Microreactors: Mechanistic Study of its Effects on H2O2 Addition

Received: 17 August 2021;  Published: 13 September 2021;  doi: 10.21926/cr.2103002

Abstract

The photocatalytic reaction involved in TiO2 photocatalysis was investigated using a microreactor coated with TiO2 film on the glass plate attached on one side of the microreactor. It was confirmed that the effect of H2O2 on the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of azo dyes (acid orange 7, acid red 151, and acid yellow 23) was dependent on the polymorphs (anatase and rutile) of TiO2 coated on the glass plate of the UV-irradiated microreactor. Scavengers of holes (KI) and electrons (p-benzoquinone) were added to [...]

Development of an Efficient Bi-Functional Catalyst made of a Novel Hybrid Material for Rechargeable Zn-Air Battery

Received: 24 May 2021;  Published: 16 July 2021;  doi: 10.21926/cr.2103001

Abstract

One-pot synthesis of mesoporous hybrid material consisting of Mn-Co/CoO nanoparticles encapsulated in an N-doped graphene shell decorated with Mo2C nanoparticles (Mo2C-NC@Mn-Co/CoO) was reported. The Mn and Mo components synergistically refined the graphitized carbons due to the interactions with N and C atoms while promoting the stability of the Co/CoO nanoparticles. These components exhibited a beneficial effect on the dispersion of the active metal/metal oxide nanoparticles and the formation of a mesoporous stru [...]

Regional Projections of Rainfall Extremes in Sri Lanka: Developing Future IDF Curves Under Climate Change

Received: 15 June 2026;  Published: 11 September 2026;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2603031

Abstract

This study developed future regional Intensity-Duration-Frequency curves for Sri Lanka using climate change scenarios to address the growing need for adaptive infrastructure planning. Rainfall projections were generated with the CNRM-CM6-1 global climate model under Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP) for moderate (SSP2-4.5) and high (SSP5-8.5) emissions. These projections were bias-corrected using a linear scaling method and analyzed across eleven hydro-meteorologically homogeneous regions. IDF curves were constru [...]

Evaluation of Sugarcane Bagasse as a Biosorbent for Arsenic Removal from Groundwater in Mórrope, Peru

Received: 04 February 2026;  Published: 31 August 2026;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2603030

Abstract

The presence of arsenic in groundwater poses a significant threat to public health, particularly in rural areas lacking access to treatment technologies. In Mórrope, concentrations exceeding regulatory limits have been detected, necessitating sustainable solutions. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of sugarcane bagasse as a biosorbent material for removing arsenic from contaminated waters in the Mórrope-Lambayeque district. The experimental design employed a 2 × 3 × 3 factorial design, enco [...]

Adapting Arctic Military and Cold-Region Infrastructure to Accelerating Climate Change: A 25-Year Bibliometric and Six-Nation Comparative Review

Received: 30 May 2026;  Published: 27 August 2026;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2603029

Abstract

Amid accelerating Arctic warming-occurring at nearly four times the global rate-cold-region infrastructure faces escalating risks from permafrost thaw, sea-level rise, and compound climate stressors. This study presents a 25-year (2001-2026) review combining bibliometric analysis with a six-nation comparative synthesis to evaluate infrastructure vulnerability, engineering adaptation strategies, and policy implementation gaps. A dataset of 1,077 Web of Science records is analyzed using VOSviewer to map thematic evol [...]

A Systems Guide to Sustainable Construction Across the Project Life Cycle: A Technical Review from Impacts to Interventions

Received: 31 December 2025;  Published: 20 August 2026;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2603028

Abstract

Sustainable construction practices and robust waste management strategies provide a viable pathway to mitigate these challenges. By integrating resource-efficient design, circular economy principles, and environmentally responsible technologies, the industry can significantly reduce its ecological burden. This paper presents a synthesis of environmental impacts from construction and a practical playbook of interventions spanning design, delivery, operations, and end-of-life. The study is organized as a systems guid [...]

Dynamic Removal of Hexavalent Chromium from Aqueous Solution and Realwastewater Using Raw Cordia africana Sawdust in a Fixed-Bed Column System

Received: 14 February 2026;  Published: 19 August 2026;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2603027

Abstract

This study evaluated the dynamic performance of raw Cordia africana sawdust for hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) removal in a fixed-bed column system under varying operating conditions, using both synthetic solutions and real tannery wastewater. This represents the first comprehensive investigation combining fixed-bed operation, real wastewater validation, triple-model comparison, speciation analysis, and regeneration assessment for this locally abundant Ethiopian biomass. Fixed-bed column experiments were conducted at [...]

Causal Relationship Between Climate Pressures and Agricultural Producer Prices in Türkiye; the Toda Yamamoto Approach

Received: 19 February 2026;  Published: 17 August 2026;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2603026

Abstract

Increases in greenhouse gas emissions, a key indicator of climate change, pose significant risks and uncertainties for the agricultural industry. From a theoretical supply-side perspective, greenhouse gas emissions may be associated with agricultural productivity losses and, consequently, with potential upward risks for producer prices. However, the Toda-Yamamoto framework used in this study tests predictive Granger causality rather than the magnitude or sign of a structural price effect. This study examines the pr [...]

Physicochemical and Lignocellulosic Characterization of Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) Processing Waste as a Potential Biomass Resource

Received: 08 May 2026;  Published: 13 August 2026;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2603025

Abstract

A Considerable amount of peel, rind, core, and fibrous residues are produced from the processing of Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.), which are generally discarded, though they contain valuable lignocellulosic components. Limited information is available on the composition of the combined jackfruit processing waste stream. Thus, the present study evaluates the physicochemical and lignocellulosic properties of jackfruit processing waste obtained from local markets and prepared with equal proportions of peel [...]
