Evaluation of Active Tectonic Features of Nandakini River Basin, Lesser Himalaya, India by Using Morphometric Indices: A GIS Approach

Received: 11 July 2022;  Published: 30 January 2023;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2301014

Abstract

Tectonic geomorphology has been evidenced as an essential tool to define and measure recent tectonic deformation. The Nandakini River originates from Nanda Ghunti glacier at 6886 m in Lesser Himalaya. It covers about ~551 km2 basin area, with a fourth-order stream. It confluences with the Alaknanda River near Nand Prayag (at elevation 852 m), Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The drainage pattern is predominantly dendritic in the study area. The morphotectonic indices are measured to know the tectonic activity of th [...]

Cytomegalovirus and Kidney Transplantation: An Update

Received: 08 November 2022;  Published: 29 January 2023;  doi: 10.21926/obm.transplant.2301174

Abstract

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is the most common infection affecting kidney transplant recipients [1]. CMV may be present as asymptomatic viremia or with symptoms ranging from mild to significant tissue-invasive disease [1,2,3]. Optimal kidney graft function and survival requires that transplant care teams carefully assess individual patient risk of CMV [2,3]. Appropriate patient surveillance and prophylaxis are essential to ensure the best long-term kidney transplant results. Effective treatment of CMV disease r [...]

Looking Beyond the Mother: Investigating Relationship Characteristics and Postpartum Depression Risk Factors

Received: 11 November 2022;  Published: 29 January 2023;  doi: 10.21926/obm.icm.2301010

Abstract

Postpartum depression (PPD) affects a notable number of women. While many of the risk and protective factors for PPD are specific to the mother, there are also factors that are related to the partner. However, the partner is often overlooked when assessing the landscape of PPD and potential treatment programs. This study sought to expand the knowledge on partner perceptions during the perinatal period. This online, cross-sectional survey of fathers who were in relationships with mothers who had given birth within t [...]

The Coupling Mechanism of the Digital Innovation Ecosystem and Value Co-creation

Received: 06 September 2022;  Published: 28 January 2023;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2301013

Abstract

Value co-creation in the digital innovation ecosystem is of great practical significance for promoting enterprise advantages and high-quality economic development. Digitalization reshapes the logic of value co-creation. Innovation activities are no longer focused only on the internal enterprise but also occur in the ecosystem of interaction and sharing with other heterogeneous and diverse subjects. How can value co-creation be achieved between the digital innovation ecosystems and how can they be coupled between th [...]

Expressive Arts for Grieving Youth: A Pilot Project

Received: 31 August 2022;  Published: 28 January 2023;  doi: 10.21926/obm.icm.2301009

Abstract

The experience of loss due to death, illness, and social mitigation was inevitable during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mental health services are chronically difficult to access in Canada, and this barrier is further exacerbated when trying to access certified art therapists to deliver expressive arts therapy. This pilot project attempted to provide an alternative to this service through an interprofessional alliance with a professional artist and certified counselors. A small group (n = 6) of vulnerable youth who had su [...]

Effects of Qigong Exercises on Patients with Parkinson’s Disease: A Follow-up Study

Received: 24 September 2022;  Published: 28 January 2023;  doi: 10.21926/obm.icm.2301008

Abstract

Qigong, a traditional Chinese exercise routine, has been used as a treatment for Parkinson’s disease (PD) in many studies, and the results have confirmed its effectiveness in reducing the symptoms of PD. However, no study has yet investigated the long-term effects and benefits of Qigong practices in improving the symptoms of PD. The purpose of this follow-up evaluation was to investigate the long-term effects of Qigong practices in improving the symptoms of PD. In this randomized controlled trial (RCT), patie [...]

Green Energy Sources Reduce Carbon Footprint of Oil & Gas Industry Processes: A Review

Received: 25 September 2022;  Published: 28 January 2023;  doi: 10.21926/jept.2301004

Abstract

In recent years, the oil and gas sector has been moving towards green production methods to achieve net-zero emission goals. Governments and corporations have started large-scale initiatives to deploy advanced technologies to reduce carbon footprints and prevent global warming. Herein, we have explored the emerging techniques and methods used in reducing the effects of gas emissions in the oil and gas industry. The transition process from hydrocarbons to renewable energy resources, including solar thermal applicati [...]

Biogeochemical Technologies for Managing CO2 Flows in Agroecosystems

Received: 17 October 2022;  Published: 28 January 2023;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2301012

Abstract

The review article discusses the application of biogeochemical technologies aimed at restoring biogeochemical cycles in agroecosystems, primarily in the microbial link regulating CO2 flows. The factors of management this microbial link when applying mineral and organic fertilizers are shown. The processes of mineralization of soil organic matter and methods of controlling soil's conjugate carbon- and nitrogen-mineralizing ability are considered. The changes in the productivity of agricultural ecosystems under c [...]

Comparative Assessment of Seasonal Variations in the Quality of Surface Water and Its Associated Health Hazards in Gold Mining Areas of Osun State, South-West Nigeria

Received: 30 October 2022;  Published: 23 January 2023;  doi: 10.21926/aeer.2301011

Abstract

Industrial and urban development are contributing to an increase in global environmental degradation. Therefore, the release of heavy metals from mining-related operations into surface water is harmful to human health. But as anthropogenic influences on the environment grow, surface water characteristics are also alter, impacting aquatic creatures. In order to analyze the acceptability of the surface water in the gold mining area for drinking and irrigation uses, different quality water assessment methodologies wer [...]

Received: 06 September 2022;  Published: 19 January 2023;  doi: 10.21926/cr.2301005

Abstract

This paper describes the synthesis of Pd0.70-Nix-By nanoparticles (x:y = 0.30:0, 0:0.30, 0.25:0.05, 0.20:0.10, 0.15:0.15, and 0.10:0.20) supported on carbon Vulcan XC-72 R by the chemical reduction method using ethylene glycol as a reducing agent for the study of the electrochemical oxidation of ethanol in alkaline media. Neither surfactants nor templates were used during the syntheses. The catalysts were physically characterized by transmission electron microscopy that showed the formation of nanoparticles with di [...]
