Do Magnetic Monopoles Exist?

Received: 21 October 2023;  Published: 07 February 2024;  doi: 10.21926/rpm.2401005

Abstract

In this paper, we continue our previous work by discussing the consequences of curvature in spacetime caused by the presence of mass and the implications of this. We address the question raised by Dirac regarding the impact of a magnetic monopole on the quantum world. We discuss quantization concerning the solid angles observed, which may have a connection with a magnetic monopole.

Elementary Collective Effects in Systems Containing Small Fermion-Numbers

Received: 14 October 2023;  Published: 06 February 2024;  doi: 10.21926/rpm.2401004

Abstract

Collective effects are a typical nuclear feature that refers to the behavior of a group of N fermions (protons and neutrons) within the atomic nucleus. Our interest lies in light nuclei only. Thus, we consider here, using the Lipkin model, a small-N fermion system at low-temperature T and discover -collective phenomena. Our fermion-model simplicity allows one to gain insight into collective fermion behavior. We focus attention, for N<20, on several quantifiers. These include standard ones related to thermal [...]

Modified Organized Systems by Incorporation of Carbon Allotropes and Derivatives for Electron Shuttle, ET, FRET, MEF, and Quantum Biology Coupling

Received: 14 October 2023;  Published: 31 January 2024;  doi: 10.21926/rpm.2401003

Abstract

This communication was brief to show how high conjugated carbon-based structures and carbon allotropes could participate as electron shuttles, semiconductors, quantum emitters, and Optoelectronic processors within confined nanostructured organized systems. In particular, it was focused on nanoassemblies such as vesicles, micelles, and lipidic nanoparticles and incorporated insights from other types of nanomaterials that could afford to develop new organized systems. In these cases, the term organized system was use [...]

An Overview of Treatments for Ultraviolet Quenching Substances (UVQS) and Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Removal from Landfill Leachate

Received: 15 September 2023;  Published: 24 January 2024;  doi: 10.21926/rpm.2401002

Abstract

Organics found in landfill leachate (humic acids, fulvic acids, and hydrophilic fraction) have a solid ability to absorb ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which negatively affects UV disinfection; leachate ultraviolet quenching substances (UVQS) can, therefore, have a significant impact on the cotreatment of landfill leachate and sewage in wastewater treatment plants. On the other hand, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which pose potential risks to the environment and human health, commonly exist in landfill l [...]

Quantum Semiconductors Based on Carbon Materials for Nanophotonics and Photonics Applications by Electron Shuttle and Near Field Phenomena

Received: 16 September 2023;  Published: 26 December 2023;  doi: 10.21926/rpm.2304037

Abstract

This review intended to resume key Research reports and publications that open many themes and topics related to Carbon-based semiconductors and Quantum emitters. The Design and synthesis of highly pure materials such as Graphene, Carbon Nanotubes, fullerenes, and other Carbon-based allotropes were shown. They presented their most important and promising properties concerning new studies and developments in photonics. Carbon-based Quantum dots, semiconductors, and higher sized Nanoplatforms allowed us to discuss fu [...]

Stress Analysis and Life Prediction of a Ceramic Matrix Composite Vane Using a Micromechanics-Based Approach

Received: 06 September 2023;  Published: 01 December 2023;  doi: 10.21926/rpm.2304035

Abstract

The results of stress analysis of a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) vane using a physics-based model developed for two-dimensional woven CMCs are presented. The model considers the inherent defects and micromechanical damage in woven CMCs along with time-dependent deformation of the constituents. Predictions include damage state under general load conditions and the global deformation response of the vane. Strain-gage data from burst tests are compared to strain predictions obtained using the model. Results from tim [...]

Received: 28 July 2023;  Published: 15 November 2023;  doi: 10.21926/rpm.2304034

Abstract

This mini-review discussed the best-known chemical and synthetic methodologies used in the last years to modify carbon allotropes, with an interest in nanotechnology. In this perspective, chemistry with optoelectronics applications and recent trends within bio-applications focusing mainly on graphene and its derivatives were considered. So, the mini-review intended to focus on methodologies to add functional groups with varied reactivities, polymer chemistry, and nanoscale control. These methodologies provide insig [...]

Mesoscale Modeling of Extrusion and Solidification During Material Extrusion Additive Manufacturing

Received: 22 August 2023;  Published: 25 October 2023;  doi: 10.21926/rpm.2304033

Abstract

In this work, we apply a multiphysics approach to fused deposition modeling to simulate extrusion and solidification. Restricting the work to a single line scan, we focus on the application of polylactic acid. In addition to heat, momentum and mass transfer, the solid/liquid/vapor interface is simulated using a front-tracking, level-set method. The results focus on the evolving temperature, viscosity, and volume fraction and are cast within a set of parametric studies, to include the printing and extrusion speed, a [...]
