Experimental Vapor-Pressures and Derived Thermodynamic Properties of Geothermal Fluids from Baden-Baden Geothermal Field (Southeastern Germany)Abstract
Background: In the present study, vapor-pressures of three geothermal fluids from Baden-Baden geothermal field (Kirchenstollen, Friedrichstollen, and Murquelle, southeastern region of Germany) were measured over the temperature range of 274-413 K. The combined expanded uncertainty of the temperature and vapor-pressure measurements at 95% confidence level with a coverage factor of k = 2 were estimated to be 0.01 K and 1-3 Pa at low and 10-30 Pa at high temperatures, respectively. The measured values of vapor-pressur [...] 2596 13826 |
Public Familiarity with Geothermal Energy on the North American West Coastby
Abstract
The 2013 Pacific Coast Action Plan on Climate and Energy signed by the Governors of Oregon, California, and Washington and the Premier of British Columbia, launched a broadly announced public commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through multiple strategies. Those strategies include the development and increased use of renewable energy sources. The initiative recognized that citizens are both a central component to abating greenhouse gas emissions with regard to their energy use behaviors, and are important [...] 2143 1699248 |
Scientometric Analysis of Scheduling in Renewable Energy: A Keyword and Citation AnalysisAbstract
The aim of this paper is the scientometric analysis of articles on “scheduling in renewable energy” that have been published between 2000 and 2017. For this purpose, the terms “scheduling in renewable energy” and “unit commitment in renewable energy” have been searched. We have found 1009 articles in the Scopus database which include the terms mentioned above. VOSviewer and CiteSpace, as two well-known the scientometric analysis tools, have been used. Keywords analysis and citation analysis are two analysis methods [...] 2151 12543 |
The Viterbo Hydrothermal System and Its Sustainable Exploitation, Central Italyby
Abstract
Background: The Regione Lazio-Direzione Regionale dello Sviluppo Economico e delle Attività Produttive (RL–DRSEAP), carrying out its public functions to govern the use of mineral resources (including thermal water), planned the exploitation of the Viterbo hydrothermal system on the basis of a conceptual hydrogeological model (CHM). The CHMs of the Viterbo area and that of the neighboring Tuscany region, characterized by the same geological and hydrogeological setting, are discussed, suggesting the unreliability of [...] 2656 23940 |
Sustainability Assessment of Power Generation from an Abandoned Oil and Gas Well in Alberta, Canadaby
Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to study the sustainability of power generation from an abandoned oil and gas well in the province of Alberta, Canada. Economic and environmental indicators were used for the sustainability assessment. A conceptual design for a pilot plant was developed, and the main parameters were determined. An abandoned oil and gas well represents the thermal power source through circulating water into an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) unit to generate electricity. The thermal power is extracted [...] 2457 14954 |
A Techno-Economic Feasibility Analysis for the Production of Solar Photovoltaic Modules in Sudanby
Abstract
This paper is intended to evaluate the economic viability of producing solar photovoltaic modules in Sudan. The simple payback period and the net present value were used as economic indicators to study comparatively different annual production capacities. Initial and operating costs were developed and analyzed for the product lifecycle. The number of working shifts in the base case is doubled to achieve a production rate of 20 MW/year and double shift with double quantity of machines is executed to reach a producti [...] 2410 16174 |
Exploring Patient Experiences of Live Music in an Oncology Setting Through the Lens of Compassion Focused Therapyby
Abstract
Live music interventions are increasingly employed in healthcare settings through a range of models, including clinical music therapy and Arts-in-Health musician programs. This study examines patient responses to live music delivered by trained professional orchestral musicians within an outpatient chemotherapy infusion unit. Although a substantial body of research associates music with reductions in anxiety, pain, and distress, findings remain heterogeneous, and the mechanisms underlying these outcomes remain inco [...] 268 746 |
Reintroducing a Pragmatic and Experiential Research Agenda for Adventure-Based and Outdoor Therapies: The Adventure Therapy Outcome Monitoring Studyby
Abstract
This paper details an ongoing research study on practitioner and participant experiences in adventure therapy, informed by a progressive research program. To test the feasibility of this study, we present a contextual understanding of adventure therapy and explore the theoretical position informing an evolving research program. We use this theoretical orientation to propose a study intending to advance research in naturalistic settings, build knowledge, and to provide a framework for developing a robust person-cent [...] 336 1107 |
Reflective Writing Meets Sound Healing: An Integrative ApproachAbstract
Despite their combined use in well-being-oriented curricula, the pairing of reflective writing and sound healing has not been empirically examined. In response, this Perspective explores the integration of reflective writing and sound healing as complementary practices for supporting well-being. The article begins by defining reflective writing and examining its use through an interdisciplinary framework that emphasizes its core functions of catharsis, processing, and bearing witness. It then turns to sound healing [...] 409 1374 |
Biomarkers in Biofield Therapies: Analysis of Measurable Effectsby
Abstract
Biofield Therapies (BTs), such as Reiki and Healing Touch, are used in integrative and complementary medicine, but their biological mechanisms remain poorly understood. This review aimed to explore the physiological biomarkers modulated by BTs in a selected sample of studies to identify common patterns and elucidate potential mechanisms of action. A focused narrative synthesis of 14 intentionally selected studies was performed, encompassing various BT modalities, study designs (including randomized clinical trials, [...] 529 2134 |
