Recent Progress in Science and Engineering (ISSN 3067-4573) is an international peer-reviewed Open-Access journal published quarterly online by LIDSEN Publishing Inc. It aims to provide an advanced knowledge platform for Science and Engineering researchers, to share the recent advances on research, innovations and development in their field.
The journal covers a wide range of subfields of Science and Engineering, including but not limited to Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, Earth Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Environmental Science, Mathematical and Statistical Science, Humanity and Social Science; Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Biological, Agricultural, Aerospace, Systems Engineering. Articles of interdisciplinary nature are also particularly welcome.
The journal publishes all types of articles in English. There is no restriction on the length of the papers. We encourage authors to be concise but present their results in as much detail as necessary.

About This Topic
Obesity and type 2 diabetes represent major global healthcare and social challenges, characterized by a continuous rise in prevalence and a reciprocal enhancement of cardiovascular and mortality risks. Recent therapeutic progress has introduced highly effective tools to counter this epidemic, most notably single and dual GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), with triple agonists expected in the near future. While the clinical efficacy of these agents is well-documented, significant hurdles limit their long-term success. These include high discontinuation rates due to adverse effects, financial barriers, or bureaucratic constraints, and the common phenomenon of weight regain following treatment cessation. Furthermore, unsupervised self-prescription driven by social media trends and the rise of counterfeit or unregulated products pose substantial clinical risks.
This Special Issue invites innovative contributions—including original research, reviews, and clinical perspectives—addressing these critical 'unmet needs' of GLP-1RA therapies, with the goal of providing the scientific community with evidence-based strategies for optimizing long-term therapeutic adherence and clinical outcomes.

The authors own the copyright to the article, and the article can be free to access, distribute, and reuse provided that the original work is correctly cited.
