Energy Security and Energy Transition

About This Topic

Energy systems are undergoing rapid transformation globally to meet net-zero commitments. This Special Issue on Energy Security and Energy Transition invites original research, reviews, and short communications that advance secure, resilient and low-carbon energy pathways. We welcome contributions on renewable integration and grid, power market design and policy instruments, sector coupling and electrification, climate and geopolitical risk to energy systems, resilience assessment and risk modeling, digitalization and AI for operations. Cross-regional, high-resolution modeling, techno-economic and life-cycle assessments and case studies from emerging and developed economies are encouraged. This special issue aims to provide actionable insights for de-risking investment and accelerating a secure, equitable energy transition.

  • Renewable integration and grid flexibility
  • Power system reliability and adequacy
  • Infrastructure planning
  • Risk, resilience and geopolitics
  • Techno-economic, lifecycle and exergy assessments
  • Modeling, optimization and forecasting
  • Digitalization and AI for operations
  • Distributed energy resources & prosumers
