About This Topic
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), both acute and chronic, represent a major global health burden, affecting mobility, functional independence, and quality of life across all age groups. In recent years, rehabilitation and sport-based interventions have gained increasing recognition as essential components of integrative and complementary therapeutic approaches for MSD management. Beyond symptom relief, these strategies aim to restore function, prevent recurrence, and promote long-term physical and psychosocial well-being.
This Special Issue focuses on the role of rehabilitation and sport as complementary therapies within multidisciplinary care models for musculoskeletal conditions. It welcomes contributions exploring clinical, biomechanical, physiological, and psychosocial perspectives, including but not limited to exercise therapy, therapeutic sport, adapted physical activity, injury prevention, and return-to-activity programs. Both acute and chronic conditions, as well as diverse populations—from athletes to older adults and patients with complex comorbidities—are within the scope.
By integrating evidence-based rehabilitation with sport and movement-oriented interventions, this Special Issue seeks to advance innovative, patient-centered approaches that bridge conventional care and complementary therapy, fostering more effective and sustainable outcomes in musculoskeletal health.
