About This Topic

Digital technologies are creating new possibilities for creative and expressive approaches to mental health and psychosocial care. This Special Issue examines interventions that integrate digital innovation with creative arts or use interactive technologies to facilitate therapeutic expression and engagement. Topics may include digitally mediated visual arts, music, storytelling, drama and movement; virtual, augmented and mixed reality; creative applications of serious games; and hybrid or remotely delivered arts-based programmes. Contributions addressing children, adolescents and adults in clinical, educational and community settings are welcome.

We encourage critical evaluation of effectiveness, feasibility, acceptability, safety and therapeutic processes, alongside accessibility, cultural responsiveness, inclusion, ethics and implementation. We welcome original quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods research, intervention evaluations, systematic and scoping reviews, and methodological or theoretically informed contributions. Connecting perspectives from mental health, creative arts therapies, rehabilitation and digital health, the Special Issue aims to identify promising approaches, clarify the quality and limits of current evidence, and inform responsible, person-centred practice.
