About This Topic

Environmental degradation and climate change underscore the need to rethink conventional production and consumption patterns. Amid the increasing severity of climate change effects, green practices and the transition to a low-carbon economy offer potential solutions to reducing environmental pressures, mitigating climate change consequences while facilitating economic resilience and social well-being. However, the realization of these ambitious goals/practices requires specific evidence on effective strategies, enabling conditions, and even potential trade-offs.

The Special Issue, “Green Practices and Low-Carbon Economy: The Avenue to Sustainable Environmental Development,” invites theoretical, empirical, and policy-oriented contributions examining how businesses, governments, and communities advance this transition. Its scope encompasses green innovation; green/sustainable production, marketing and consumption; circular economy practices; renewable energy; energy efficiency; green finance; and low-carbon governance. Special attention is devoted to studies providing systemic reviews and evolutions of these green practices, assessing their environmental outcomes, identifying barriers to implementation, and understanding differences across sectors and economies.

By bringing together inter-disciplinary perspectives, this Special Issue aims to deepen understanding of the links between green practices, decarbonization, and sustainable development, while providing actionable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers.

Submissions may address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

  1. Green finance, environmental sustainability, green growth.
  2. Green/sustainable consumption and production, green travel behavior, green marketing, green brand equity, sustainable agriculture, sustainable industrial practices and environmental sustainability.
  3. Circular economy: policies and practices, environmental sustainability, environmental-friendly business models.
  4. Green innovation, renewable energy, energy efficiency.
  5. Green technologies, digital transformation, digital finance and pro-environmental growth.
