About This Topic
Climate change is making natural hazards such as floods, droughts, wildfires, and extreme temperatures more frequent and severe. At the same time, industrialisation, urban growth, intensive agriculture, and changes in land use are placing increasing pressure on ecosystems. This Special Issue invites original research articles, reviews, and case studies that advance the identification, monitoring, modelling, and assessment of environmental risks under a changing climate. Contributions may address hazard characterisation, ecosystem vulnerability, contaminant exposure, ecological impacts, climate adaptation, and sustainable risk-management strategies.
Particular emphasis is placed on innovative approaches to environmental remediation and ecosystem restoration. These may include biological methods, such as bioremediation, phytoremediation, microbial remediation, nature-based solutions, and biotechnological applications, as well as non-biological methods involving physical, chemical, thermal, electrochemical, or engineered treatments. Studies comparing the effectiveness, scalability, environmental impacts, and economic feasibility of remediation strategies are especially encouraged. By integrating risk assessment with remediation, adaptation, and restoration, this Special Issue aims to support evidence-based environmental management, strengthen climate resilience, and advance long-term sustainability.

The authors own the copyright to the article, and the article can be free to access, distribute, and reuse provided that the original work is correctly cited.
