Prof. Dr. Foo Keng Yuen is the Deputy Director of River Engineering and Urban Drainage Research Centre, Universiti Sains Malaysia. His research interests are environmental engineering, waste utilization, water treatment technology, catalysis, food security and toxicology, and environmental health. He has involved in different kinds of university, national and international research grants, amounting to approximately RM 11.3 million. His aptitude for high quality research of international standing has been supported by the consultancy projects of exceeding RM 3.9 million, more than 100 international publications, with a total citation of exceeding 19,000, and an author h-index of 42. In term of Intellectual Property Rights, he holds 3 patents, 1 trade-secret and 1 trademark. Foo’s scholastic achievements and thought leadership are recognised locally and internationally. He is honoured to be the winner of National Young Scientist Award 2017, International Young Inventor Award, Marquis Who's Who in the World, Top100 Engineers, and Honorary Doctorate of Letters by International Biographical Centre Cambridge, England, and special award or medal winners in International Inventions, Competitions and Exhibitions. He serves as the Editor, Editorial Board Members, Scientific Adviser, Technical Committee, Review Committee, Keynote and Invited Speakers in international scientific journals, conferences, and research seminars. Foo has been nominated as the Chief Consultant for several UNESCO’s international workshops, connecting with more than 30 industrial partners, currently has been appointed as the technical consultant for TG Ocean Sdn. We sincerely welcome Prof. Dr. Wahidul K. Biswas from Curtin University, Perth, Australia, to join the Editorial Board of Advances in Environmental and Engineering Research. Prof. Wahidul Biswas ranked among the top 1% of Scientists in the world by Elsevier BV and Stanford University in 2023 and among the top 2% in 2021 and 2022. Wahidul trained as a Mechanical Engineer, researching the performance of diesel engine using biogas fuel (http://lib.buet.ac.bd:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/1548). Then, he has gradually diversified his research to engineering for sustainable development, an interdisciplinary field. He has a Masters in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and a PhD in Sustainable Futures from the University of Technology, Sydney. Wahidul teaches and coordinates postgraduate units on Cleaner Production Tools, Global Sustainability Studies, Environmental Studies, and Sustainable Energy and a core undergraduate Engineering unit, Engineering for Sustainable Development. Wahidul has carried out extensive life cycle assessment research on greenhouse gas emissions from the Australian agricultural, alternative fuels, building and construction, manufacturing, mining and water sectors in collaboration with the Department of Climate Change, the Grains Research and Development Commission (GRDC), Department of Agriculture and Food, WA, University of Western Australia, Department of Primary Industries, Victoria Enterprise Connect, Worley Persons and Recom Engineering. Wahidul also completed a project on the techno-economic assessment of greenhouse gas mitigation potential in Kwinana Industrial Area, WA, for the Centre for Sustainable Resource Processing (CSRP).He has worked as a Research Engineer in the Energy Program at the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok where he collaborated with researchers from five Asian countries to develop policies appropriate to mitigating different levels of greenhouse gases from the electricity generating sectors of these countries. Wahidul has also been an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science, Khulna University, Bangladesh. Prior to joining SEG, Wahidul was a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of New South Wales where he developed sustainable energy and water management plans for the rural community. Despina Vamvuka is a Chemical Engineer and Professor in the Dept. of Mineral Resources Engineering at the Technical University of Crete, where she teaches and carries out research in the field of “Solid Fuels Beneficiation and Technology”. Prof. Vamvuka’s scientific interests cover a wide spectrum of activities related to the beneficiation of solid fuels (coal, biomass, organic residues) and the new clean technologies for energy production. She has extensive experience in the fields of pyrolysis, combustion, gasification and reduction of pollutant emissions from solid fuels, as well as coal/biomass characterization and physical and chemical beneficiation. She is among the top 2% of researchers worldwide according to Stanford-Scopus classification since 2021. She is the writer of about 235 scientific publications (11784 citations), several students’ publications, two books “Clean use of coals. Low rank coal technologies” (published by Ion publications) and “Biomass, Bioenergy and the Environment” (published by Tziolas publications) and three book chapters relevant to the above-mentioned subjects. Until today, she has participated as a partner or coordinator in 29 National/European research and educational programs. She has been member of organizing and scientific committees for international conferences, she is member of scientific committees for energy, environment, biofuels and hydrogen, Associate Editor or member of the Editorial Board of 23 scientific journals, member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Combustion Institute, member of the Regional Council of Research and Innovation, member of the Deanery Board of the Department of Mineral Resources Engineering, Director of postgraduate studies of the Department of Mineral Resources Engineering etc. She is referee for General Secretariat of Research and Technology (GSRT) in Greece, referee of the Italian Ministry of Education, referee of 53 international scientific journals, as well as of National Research Programs. We sincerely welcome Prof. Dr. Haluk Akgun from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, to join the Editorial Board of Advances in Environmental and Engineering Research. Professor Akgun's areas of specialization include engineering geology, rock mechanics with specific interest in numerical modeling in geomechanics, tunnel/slope design, waste geotechnics, sealing of underground high-level nuclear waste repositories, geotechnical site investigation and seismic zonation, modeling of hydraulic fracturing/stimulation and fluid flow in Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), landslide risk analysis, monitoring and early warning system design. He received his Bachelor's degree from the Middle East Technical University (METU), Department of Geological Engineering with honors in 1981 and his Master's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Arizona, Departments of Geological Engineering & Civil Engineering in 1986 and 1990, respectively. Professor Akgün is a faculty member of the Middle East Technical University (METU), Department of Geological Engineering, Ankara, Turkey since 1995 and Associate Editor of The Journal of Solid Waste Technology & Management. He was employed as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer & Senior Design Associate at Environtech Consultants, Inc., Boca Raton, Florida, during 1990-1992 and, as a Senior Geotechnical/Geo-Environmental Engineer at Geotech, Inc., Maple Shade, New Jersey during 1993-1995 before becoming a faculty member at METU. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with specializations in engineering geology and geotechnical engineering. Professor Akgün has authored a total of 67 international journal papers (of which, 60 are screened by WOS), 5 international book chapters, 2 international encyclopedia chapters and 80 international conference papers. Associate Professor Nasrin Aghamohammadi is an Environmental Engineering professional focusing on Sustainable Cities and Society. Currently, she is the Project Manager for RACE for 2030 CRC Pathways to Net Zero Precincts.Her research focuses on urban overheating, innovative mitigation strategies, sustainability policy, air quality, thermal comfort, health impact assessments, walkability, alert systems, net-zero emissions, and technologies for the waste and water-energy nexus. She is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Malaya (UM). Previously, she was an Associate Professor at UM, leading the multidisciplinary grand challenge program on the urban heat island phenomenon in a tropical city and mitigation approaches since 2015 in Greater Kuala Lumpur. She has lectured at various faculties and universities, including Malaysia, the USA, Japan, China, and Iran. Nasrin was an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Sustainable Cities and Society, published by Elsevier, with a Q1 rating and an Impact Factor of 11.7 and recently promoted as Co Editor in Chief for e-Prime - Advances in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Energy by Elsevier. We sincerely welcome Dr. Nikiforos Alygizakis from Environmental Institute, Slovakia, Kosice, Slovakia, to join the Editorial Board of Advances in Environmental and Engineering Research. He works with contaminants of emerging concern, which are chemicals that are not regulated and are not included in routine monitoring programs. His research focuses on water quality assessment including antimicrobial resistance, contaminants in ecosystems, and wastewater-based epidemiology. One of his most significant achievements is the creation of the Digital Sample Freezing Platform (https://dsfp.norman-data.eu/), which is a core component of the NORMAN Database System (NDS). Through his publications, he has demonstrated the potential of retrospective suspect screening to revolutionize environmental chemical monitoring.
