Compassionate Love for a Romantic Partner among Brazilian College Students

Received: 08 February 2024;  Published: 12 April 2024;  doi: 10.21926/obm.neurobiol.2402217

Abstract

Compassionate love (CL) is a recent subject of close relationships. CL is focused on enlarging beneficence to another. The present study approaches the test of the psychometric characteristics of the shortened form of the Compassionate Love Scale for a partner (CLS-P-SF) for Brazilian college students and its relationships with background and well-being variables. The sample included 217 young adults, 46.1% women and 53.9% men. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the single latent factor of the CLS-P-SF is g [...]

Thrombotic Microangiopathy in Solid Organ Transplantation

Received: 31 January 2024;  Published: 10 April 2024;  doi: 10.21926/obm.transplant.2402211

Abstract

Thrombotic Microangiopathy (TMA) is a syndrome characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA) and thrombocytopenia. The presence of schistocytes on peripheral smear, a negative Coombs test, elevated lactate dehydrogenase, increased reticulocyte count and low haptoglobin are often the clues for MAHA. The microvascular process often targets vasculature in kidneys, brain, gastrointestinal system, heart, and skin. A timely diagnosis and treatment are often crucial to prevent severe end organ damage and death [...]

Attitudes and Motivations Towards Implantation of Intention Towards Exercise among Entrepreneurs: A Brain Freshness Activity

Received: 19 October 2023;  Published: 10 April 2024;  doi: 10.21926/obm.neurobiol.2402216

Abstract

In the contemporary landscape, developing individuals' attitudes, motivations, and intentions toward exercise and physical activities emerges as an imperative cornerstone for fostering a healthy and thriving lifestyle. The present study examines the effect of the theory of the planned behavior (TPB) constructs on exercise motivation (MT) and intention towards exercise (ITWE) among Egyptian entrepreneurs. The study employed a quantitative approach and collected cross-sectional responses from entrepreneurs throug [...]

Allelic Variation of High-Molecular-Weight Glutenin Genes in Triticum Species and Triticale (× Triticosecale Wittmack)

Received: 27 February 2024;  Published: 09 April 2024;  doi: 10.21926/obm.genet.2402225

Abstract

High-molecular-weight glutenin subunits (HMW-GS) encoded by alleles at the Glu-A1, Glu-B1, and Glu-D1 loci confer unique bread-making properties of common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The identification of HMW-GS is the prerequisite for pyramiding high-quality glutenin genes. The present review is designed to list all published HMW-GS alleles in Triticum species and triticale (A- and B genomes), focusing on methods for their identification. T. monococcum is characterized by 37 alleles at the Glu-1 locus versus fou [...]

Osteoporosis Etiology, Epidemiology, Diagnosis, Diet, and Treatment: A Narrative Review

Received: 26 December 2022;  Published: 09 April 2024;  doi: 10.21926/obm.geriatr.2402277

Abstract

This narrative review aimed to select, gather, and present inclusive evidence about osteoporosis etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, diet, and treatment. We searched PubMed and Google using these terms: osteoporosis AND etiology, osteoporosis AND epidemiology, osteoporosis AND diagnosis, osteoporosis AND diet, and osteoporosis AND treatment. Each title of the extracted manuscripts was read first. If deemed suitable, the abstracts of the manuscripts and text were read carefully. Afterward, the details of each term we [...]

Andropause: A Neglected Disease Entity

Received: 11 January 2024;  Published: 03 April 2024;  doi: 10.21926/obm.geriatr.2402276

Abstract

This review aims to bring attention to the growing issue of andropause, a condition that affects men as they age. The literature was identified by searching the major bibliographic databases, including PubMed, Google Scholar, EBSCOhost, Web of Science, and CINAHL. Studies were included if they focused on strategies for reducing and preventing andropause, published between 1980 and 2023. Andropause, which is often overlooked and misconceived, is the result of a decrease in testosterone production and can result in p [...]

“Guess Who?” in the Creation of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Diets through History

Received: 17 November 2023;  Published: 03 April 2024;  doi: 10.21926/rpn.2402005

Abstract

The relationship between obesity and weight loss treatments has run parallel throughout history; however, not all diets are suitable for improving one’s health. This review aims to categorize diets according to the new classification of hazardous diets established in 2021. A search was conducted across grey, white, and black literature. The results reveal a study of 179 diets, of which 35 are effective, while the rest are hazardous to health. Looking at the geographical distribution of these diets, the USA, the UK, [...]

Review on the Development of Titanium Diboride Ceramics

Received: 02 January 2024;  Published: 03 April 2024;  doi: 10.21926/rpm.2402009

Abstract

Titanium diboride (TiB2) materials have garnered significant attention due to their remarkable comprehensive properties. They offer potential applications in high-temperature structural materials, cutting tools, armor, electrodes for metal smelting, and wear-resistant parts. However, due to the low self-diffusion coefficient, the TiB2 exhibits poor sinterability, excessive grain growth at elevated temperatures, and inadequate oxidation resistance, limiting its wide application. Therefore, many research works are de [...]
