Solar energy production usually does not match the thermal energy demand, and the energy storage must be integrated. Thermochemical energy storage is particularly adapted to be used with solar thermal applications. In this article, the design of the combined solar thermochemical energy storage system is demonstrated. The experimental prototype was built and tested under atmospheric conditions. The model of the thermochemical reactor was developed in Matlab® and it was validated on the experimental data. The dynamic simulations of the combined solar thermal system for the preparation of the sanitary hot water were carried out in TRNSYS environment. Performance for storing the thermal energy under different climate conditions is discussed in depth.
