In the present report, information regarding the most important mechanisms underlying the drug-drug interactions (DDI) and herb-drug interactions (HDI) has been discussed briefly. Furthermore, the best known and relevant interactions of Ginkgo biloba, Citrus paradisi (Grapefruit Juice), Silybum marianum (Milk Thistle), Hypericum perforatum (St. John Wort) and Camellia sinensis (Green Tea) that have emerged from clinical evidence have been listed. The last part of the present report has been dedicated to cancer patients, with a summary of interactions between plants and drugs/chemotherapeutics. The “Reversed Grading for clinical risk of interactions in oncology”, a tool conceived by the Tuscan Network of Integrative Medicine, has also been reported.
