Among these issues are oral health diseases which present as major public health concerns and constitute a serious burden to all regions of the world. FDI World Dental Federation in 2018, states that 90% of the entire world’s population will be afflicted by oral health problems in their lifetime. The impacts of oral diseases on older people and societies due to functional impairments, disability and reduced quality of life are troubling. However, majority of these problems can be averted through society, health organisations and government programmes that support funding for prevention, early detection and treatment of oral health problems. This study reviews the literature to establish and reinforce the relationship between oral health, nutritional status and quality of life in the elderly population. It also aims to provide opportunity for increase knowledge and awareness about the significant of good oral health practice in the elderly population for the medical and paramedical staffs, families and carers involve in caring for the elderly people in their homes, care facilities, or at other health institution.
